CFA Testimony to Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Vital Role of Food Safety Regulations

CFA has long supported regulatory reforms to prevent food safety threats, rather than react to them after people get sick. That is why CFA supported passage of the Food Safety Modernization Act, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) promulgation of regulations under the law. Consumers and industry widely support greater food safety oversight and the new rules will help to eliminate foodborne illnesses whose costs far exceed industry compliance costs.
