Consumer and Privacy Organizations Encourage California Legislature to Continue to Strengthen Privacy Protections

In a letter to the members of the California State Legislature, consumer and privacy groups including CFA applaud California lawmakers for taking an important step last year to protect their constituents’ privacy and security by enacting the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Despite industry pressure to reverse aspects of the law, the organizations encourage members of the legislature to continue to lead on consumer protection by building upon—and clarifying when needed—CCPA’s protections, and to reject industry efforts to weaken the law.
