Consumer and Privacy Organizations Oppose Federal Privacy Legislation that Preempts Stronger State Laws

In a letter to members of Congress, consumer and privacy organizations, including CFA, express opposition to federal privacy legislation that preempts stronger state laws, citing the critical role that the states play in developing innovative solutions to emerging privacy challenges. Not only will preemption leave consumers with inadequate privacy protections, it will likely result in their being worse off than they would be in the absence of federal legislation.
