Group Letter to Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, & Transportation on Personal Data Notification & Protection Act

CFA and other advocacy groups submit the following in response to the recently announced “Personal Data Notification & Protection Act.” We are pleased that the President is committed to protecting the privacy and security of individuals’ personal information. As the legislative proposal stands now, however, it would do more harm than good. With this in mind, below is a summary of our concerns with the proposal and our general recommendations for data breach legislation.
