CFA and almost one hundred other organizations urged the Senate to quickly approve the nomination of Mary Boyle to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission so that the agency has a full complement of commissioners necessary to conduct its important work.

Currently, the CPSC has four of five Commissioner slots filled. Filling the fifth seat is imperative to addressing pressing product safety issues, especially those that primarily impact vulnerable infants and children, such as hazards posed by crib bumper pads and the use of toxic chemicals in consumer products, for which CPSC action has stalled. Further, the Commission needs a full complement of commissioners to effectively and efficiently tackle a host of pressing issues including addressing recalls, the effectiveness of those recalls, corrective actions, and market surveillance.
