Mr. Chairman and Members of the Committee,

My name is Dr. Mark Cooper. I am Director of Research of the Consumer Federation of America (CFA). I appreciate the opportunity to appear before you today to share our views on ―Competition in the Evolving Digital Marketplace. CFA has long recognized the importance of digital industries to consumers and the economy. We began analyzing the digital industries in the late 1980s, before most analysts were paying much attention, and we concluded that, allowed to develop to their full potential, they would be an extremely consumer-friendly and citizenfriendly place. Informed by that analysis, we have fought hard to preserve the competitiveness and openness of this space.
